Week 3 - Number Theory

While filing your taxes, you notice that the numbers are growing so much that you start wondering if you can find any interesting properties. Lo and behold, you see that ACM is having a presentation on number theory on tax day, and you decide that knowing how to calculate the number of primes that appeared in your taxes is more useful than knowing your total tax return. Join us this Wednesday in DBH 3011 from 6-8pm (after finishing your taxes) for a presentation on number theory!

Week 4: ACM Escape Room

As 8pm approaches on a Wednesday, you find yourself trapped in yet another ACM yap session seemingly with no way to escape! Fortunately, you realize that if you solve all the problems that the group is discussing, there will be nothing else to discuss, and you will finally be able to leave.

Join us this Wednesday from 6pm - *8pm (depending on whether you can escape) in DBH 3011 for ACM Escape Room! The challenges will be completed in teams of 2-3 (don't worry about finding teams beforehand, we will help you form teams). Can you take on these challenges to escape from ACM on time, or will you be trapped in DBH?

Fixed-Point

Week 5: Fixed Point Algorithms

Studying for tests never seems to end, but it does converge at some point. Learn algorithms that iterate until converging at this Wednesday's meeting 6-8pm in DBH 3011.

Week 6: Optimizations in C++

Do you ever look at your runtime and think, that could be faster? Normally, all we care about is the asymptotic time complexity, but when you're allocating 10 vectors and on the verge of exceeding your memory, suddenly the constant factors matter. Learn about the easiest ways to optimize your code and compete in our challenge to beat our president's runtime at the end!

Week 7: ACM Programming Contest

Our in-house competition is this Wednesday, 5/13, 6:00-8:15pm in DBH 3011. Please note that this is slightly longer than our usual meeting time and that it is recommended you stay the entire time for the full experience.

This contest will be open to people with all skill levels, so don’t be afraid to join! It will be hosted on CodeForces, so make sure you have made an account.

Week 8: String Matching Algorithms

Curious about how Turnitin and Ctrl+f work? Come learn string matching algorithms, applications of DP, and use your hashing skills from the Number Theory presentation in this week's meeting Wednesday, 6-8pm, in DBH 3011.

Week 9: ACM-pics (ACM Olympics)

Are you ready to be on the hot seat? ACM is hosting a CS-themed Olympics game night TODAY, 6-8pm in DBH 3011!

You will be placed into teams after coming to the event so don't worry about finding teammates beforehand.

Week 10: End of Year Movie Night

For our last meeting of the year, we will be having a movie night! Popcorn and snacks will be available. We will be meeting at the usual time of 6pm TODAY in DBH 3011, but note that the meeting may run late due to the length of the movie. Good luck on finals!
